Which Tesla Wall Connector is Right for You?

If you’re an electric vehicle (EV) owner, you know that Tesla Wall Connector installation is essential for charging your car. But with all the different Wall Connectors on the market, how do you choose the right one? Let’s take a look at some of the most popular options to answer that question.

The Gen 3 Tesla Wall Connector

The Gen 3 Tesla Wall Connector is the most recent model released by Tesla. It features a simple, sleek design and is available in both hardwired and plug-in versions. The hardwired version requires professional installation and can be used to charge up to 48 amps. The plug-in version comes with its own NEMA 14-50 connector and can charge up to 40 amps. This makes it perfect for those who want a quick, easy installation without the hassle of hiring an electrician.

The Gen 2 Mobile Connector

If you’re looking for something that’s both affordable and portable, then the Gen 2 mobile connector might be right for you. This charger has two built-in adapters—the NEMA 5-15 adapter and NEMA 14-50 adapter—and also comes with a 24ft cable so that it can easily reach your car from wherever you park it. It can charge up to 32 amps but is not recommended for stationary use due to its portability factor.

The Universal Mobile Connector (UMC)

This mobile charger was designed for older models of EVs, such as the Roadster or Model S before June 2012. It works with any standard 120V outlet and has three adapters—NEMA 5-15, 6-20P, and 14-50—allowing you to charge at 6 – 32 amps depending on which adapter you’re using. However, this charger does have some drawbacks; it does not feature any safety shutoffs like other chargers do, so there is always some risk involved when using it.

Conclusion:

When choosing which Tesla Wall charger installation is right for you, it really depends on your specific needs and budget constraints. If money isn’t an issue and you want something reliable, then go with either the Gen 3 Hardwired or Plug In version depending on what type of outlet is available in your home or garage. If portability or affordability are more important than performance then go with either the Gen 2 Mobile Charger or Universal Mobile Charger (UMC).
